Taking My Own Advice
By Anne Keckler | February 24, 2008
It’s time for me to take some of my own advice. Ever since I started seriously writing on this site, I’ve spent a lot more hours sitting at the computer! I read up on everything before I post. Not only because I want to be sure to give you the most accurate, up-to-date information I can, but also because I need the inspiration!
This week I’m going to Cancun, to an all-inclusive resort. I’m one of those weird people who loses weight whenever I go on vacation. I lost five pounds on a week-long cruise last month! Nobody loses weight on a cruise. There’s food everywhere you look!
I suspect the reason I lose weight when I vacation is because I’m more active, and I don’t snack as much.
So…
I hereby resolve to set a timer of some sort (probably the alarm on my cell phone) to get up and do something for at least fifteen minutes every hour. My house has been neglected, and I haven’t picked up my hula hoop in weeks. The dog would surely like to go for a walk down the road, rather than staying in the yard all day. Yes, there are plenty of opportunities for me to be active, so it’s time to get back to it!
I’ll definitely still be writing. Maybe my writing will even improve with those frequent breaks. And the weather is finally getting decent so that I don’t have to bundle up to walk outside the door. (I’m a native Floridian – 60° is cold!)
I’ll probably update via Twitter on my activities and my progress. If I’m able to update from Cancun, it will definitely be via Twitter. You can follow me on Twitter by clicking here. I promise not to flood you with messages. I’ll only update once or twice a day.

I loose weight on vacation too! For me, it’s because when I don’t have the daily stress of a schedule, responsibilities, etc, my mind is free and clear and I naturally focus on my mental and physical well being. For me that includes eating good food and being active! Now if only I could be on PERMANANT VACATION…lol. I think Aerosmith was on to something!
