My path to coaching
By Anne Keckler | August 13, 2007
I’ve always been interested in health and fitness. I never played competitive sports as a child, but I was always active.
In my teens, I read a lot about health and fitness. Most of it, I’m sure, was inaccurate. I learned to cook healthy foods, though, and I knew that being active was important.
Then I got married and had children, and it suddenly became much more difficult to stay in shape. Oh, I did okay after the first baby. I even lost more weight than I’d gained, just by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further away, and all that stuff “they” tell you to do to get a little more exercise in your life. Besides, one little baby is fairly portable.
But two? Oh my. It’s so much more difficult with two!
I’ve had a total of six babies. I got out of shape, gained weight, and wasn’t eating well as I used to. So a couple of years ago I decided to do something about it!
Since then, I’ve gone from 36% bodyfat down to a healthy 23%. I’ve increased my muscle mass and strength quite a bit. And I’ve learned a lot along the way.
So I decided to become a personal trainer. The study material was pretty difficult, and it’s hard to study when you have children interrupting you all day. I finally rented a hotel room for a weekend so I could study before my exam, and I think that made all the difference in the world.
I’m now an ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) Certified Personal Trainer. I’m currently studying to get my Wellcoach certification, as well. With my background in childbirth training and coaching, I want to help women maintain health and fitness during the prenatal and postpartum fitness. I also work with women who want to develop strength, for sports or any reason at all.
Welcome to my little spot on the world wide web.

I’m impressed, You have accomplished a lot obviously. The information you provided in you web site in good knowledgable content. People need the ability, knowledge, and “will” to get physical change out of themselves. See you in the gym. *smile*
